Space Opera, Vesage and Machine Phase

Leave it to Ballistic Publishing to release not one, not two, but three new books that digital artists and video gamers are sure to love.

To start things off Ballistic shares with readers the results of its Grand Space Opera Icons Of Galactic Civilization And Conflict that challenged digital artists to create their own unique vision of a pivotal moment in a galaxy spanning space opera.

The results of the CG Challenge are in and all are included in this beautiful new softbound book jammed to the brim with sketches, color studies, 3D renderings of landscapes, machinery, vehicles, aliens and humans.

What makes the book especially interesting is Ballistic includes the thoughts from the creators themselves along with how they actually created their entries shown in rough to complete stages.

Vesage includes extensive art from special effects artists used in movies, TV and video games.  The VES group's work is showcased by artist.

Digital images ranges from fantasy to reality-all of them spectacular!  Artists offer insights into their work, the projects completed and comments of the various media for which they created to art.

Vesage is a wonderful insight into the workings of the creative mind as demonstrated by each highly-detailed and technically proficient piece.

Machine Phase Booby Trap is the brainchild of Dean Fowler.  His sketches, 3D renderings, drawings, storyboards and initial Machine Phase graphic novel are all included.

The graphic novel soon translated to a digital film rendered using computer graphics.
The book is divided into two parts; Dean's graphic novel and concept art and the translation over to movie quality graphics.

Full 3D, texture-mapped characters were created along with environments, costumes, lighting and more.

For a first-hand look at the tremendous amount of blood, sweat and tears it takes to create a 3D movie take a good, long, hard look at Machine Phase.
