Who exactly is she?
The story begins with a Pacific Ocean archaeological expedition. A crew of treasure hunters stumbles across something under water.
The first exploratory team consisting of a man and a woman encounter something unexplainable under water. The man is killed and the woman survives but in a sad state.
Terror fills her eyes and she mumbles incoherently.
In a clever story-telling technique the writer and artist intermittently switch from the past to the present.
In the past a strange woman warrior comes across the war camp of Mongols.
She offers her services to destroy their enemies. Her reward-blood lust and death!
After receiving a precious gift from her the chief reluctantly/suspiciously agrees.
The sorceress is the embodiment of death and loves nothing more than clouding men's minds, firing up their blood lust and setting them into battle.
Back in the present the exploratory ship is struck by what appears to be a whale. All communication is down and the chief of the exploration decides to continue their search for artifacts.
What they find is far more than they bargained for.

The story really pulls you in and the art and coloring successfully convey both the past and present with clear distinction between characters and with just enough detail and clever layouts to pull the reader along without slowing the pace.
We’ve all seen warrior/sorceress characters in comic books before but trust me when I say, you’ve seen nothing like The Forgotten Queen.
