Marvel and DC Comics' Spider-Man And Batman

Back in the 1990s Marvel and DC Comics published a number of crossover events where their respective universes met.  Some were mini-series while others were one shots.

One such one shot was Spider-Man And Batman produced in 1995.

The Webslinger and Dark Knight teamed up to take on combined the threat of The Joker and Carnage.  Art was provided by Mark Bagley and the script by J.M  DeMatteis.

The story opened with both Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker having dreams about the death of Wayne’s parents and Parker’s Uncle.  For some odd reason the images of The Joker and Carnage seem to meld in their dreams.

After Carnage escaped a holding facility led by scientists studying his symbiote another ‘experiment’ has placated the Joker’s homicidal tendencies.

Carnage recognized a kindred spirit in The Joker and freed him from his conditioned state.

Recognizing the both get ‘the joke’ Carnage and The Joker teamed up to cause as much chaos and destruction as possible.

Reluctantly Batman and Spider-Man teamed up and managed to defeat the deadly duo.

Spider-Man And Batman features some of the best art of Mark Bagley's career.  It also points out the striking similarities of Batman’s and Spider-Man’s troubled pasts including their most dangerous foes.

The story is one of the best teaming up tales of Marvel and DC and is a fun and fast-paced read.
