Werecats Emergent

What would you do if, as a teenager, one Halloween night you are suddenly transformed into a feral Werecat?

Teenager Pawly and her twin brother are about to find out as they begin their strange, mysterious, dangerous and frightening journey in the Werecats Emergent Book 1 Of The Forest Exiles Saga, by author Mark J. Engels and publisher Fazed Angle Media.

It’s tough enough to be a teenager, but when you turn into a Werecat there’s a whole new set of problems.

Having tasted human blood Pawly must learn to control her animal instincts before they control her.

It‘s up to her family to find a way to control her and brother’s baser animal instincts.

When a Werecat elder representing a rogue state offers to be a benefactor and protect the twins Pawly’s uncle has a difficult decision to make.

There’s a catch, the rogue nation wants to use their powers for its own purposes.

Meanwhile certain government types also have an interest in the Werecat family. They are not the only ones.

Suddenly several powerful entities become unwilling players in a deadly game of winner take all.

To complicate matters even more a cartel enforcer is savagely mauled on the twin’s first mission making the twins suspects.

What I find especially interesting about Werecats Emergent is how the author explores what it means to be a Werecat. He delves into what it means to have the human and feline personas vie against each other for control.

He also fleshes out each character giving them distinct personalities. He does this by delving into their history, family life, friends, family, work and personal associations.

I felt as if I knew each character and liked them despite their faults and choices. Even the ‘bad’ guys were real humans, albeit with wrong motivation and flaws.

Can the transformations truly be controlled? What happens when the red blood-lust becomes too strong and human reason vanishes?

Even when certain base instincts can be tamed and channeled, what are the risks? What’s it like to live on the edge all the time not knowing what you might do if you lose control?

A human/feline hybrid is unstable and lives under the constant threat of burning out in a horrific manner. It must satiate its killer instinct someway.

This book has it all: international intrigue, spies, government covert operations, hints of horror and the supernatural, secret labs and hideouts, a drug and criminal cartel, a storm at sea, action, adventure and plot twists and turns-the list goes on and on. Phew! I’m tired keeping up on it all.

Find this book and read it, now!

Be sure to check out and read the two follow-up titles to The Forest Exiles Saga: Werecats Convergent and Werecats Resurgent. I plan to.
