The Undead In World Mythology And Folklore

I do not believe in ghosts. The Bible assures us that when a person dies they either go to one of two places: Heaven or Hell. No sticking around here with us mortals. Why would they?

But, I do believe in demons which are also mentioned in the Bible. I believe that demons disguising themselves as human ghosts taunt and disturb the living.

I myself have experienced so called 'undead' activities.  One time in particular I was with a friend of mine in the back room of an old abandoned house.

We were in the back kitchen of a Victorian home.  Back then kitchens had their own set of stairs to the second floor.  While we were in the dimly lit room we heard footsteps coming down the stairs while were in the room!

Needless to say, we left quickly.

In author Theresa Bane’s and McFarland& Company, Inc., Publishers' new oversize softbound book: The Undead In World Mythology And Folklore An Encyclopedia (part of McFarland’s Myth And Legends Encyclopedia series) the phenomenon of the undead is examined in full.

Such ‘undead’ do not remain at rest, haunt humans, appear as ghosts, corpses, poltergeists, advisors, guardians and devourers.

Over 400 categories of the undead are examined from all over the globe.

Full descriptions, activities-both good and bad, countries of origin and full legend accountings make up the book arranged in alphabetical order.

Get ready to be creeped out as you read the various accounts of said appartions

Matthew 10:28 - And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
