There are books that consist of just text and then there are those that combine text balloons and illustrations (graphic novels).
It’s unusual when a book combines the best of both written text and art but that’s exactly what Otto Normal’s Monsterton The Curious Case Of The Bloodless Hound does--and does it well-very well.
Written by Danielle McKechnie and illustrated with flair by Simon Estrada, the book, published by Andrews McMeel Publishing, is a colorful and fun-packed adventure kids are going to love.
This is the second installment and this time around a bloodless hell-hound is on the loose and causing mayhem.
Otto, along with the patchwork pirate boy Hamish and the energetic zombie Luck embark on a brand new mission, ripe with danger, surprises, intrigue and horrors hidden in Monsterton’s forests.
The tale is a real by-the-skin-of-your teeth thriller with unexpected twists and turns and surprises around every corner.
Complemented by the highly stylized art bursting with color, the tale about the the intrepid trio who encounter all sorts of bizarre characters and traverse strange lands has more that it’s fair shares of weird happenings.
I absolutely love the art, the character sheet and map. So much is going on in text and art that I had to catch my breath at almost every page turn.
Romans 8:15 - For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
