I am excited! I plan on keeping it with me on walks, while riding a bike or other tasks. Its handy magnetic clip and lanyard make it easy to transport and position. Journey II Suitcase Record Player

Back in the 1950s and 1960s while I was growing up in Michigan there used to be large delivery trucks from different companies that would go from door-to-door bringing product samples to homeowners.

Since my mom couldn’t drive, she would order different household items from one of the companies.

She would select her products, pay the driver, and within a week or two the products would be delivered.

On one occasion mom ordered me a small, pink and white suitcase/portable record player. It was cheap and plastic but I loved it.

I would play my 45 records on it. I was about 13 or 14 years old.

Later when I attended high school (1969 to 1971) my study hall teacher would let me bring the suitcase/portable record player to class and play classic rock and roll LPs popular at the time.

I had that record player until 1973 until I moved from Michigan to Florida. I believe I gave it to one of my nephews or nieces.

Victrola has a new portable suitcase record player that reminds me of my old one. Of course the material is much better, along with the sound quality and there are few extras my old record player didn’t have.

The Victrola Journey II Suitcase Record Player comes in a hard and sturdy cardboard box with an flip-open and tabbed lid. The lid is held in place by a piece of tape.

The box is decorated with photos of the record player on all sides-my version is aqua color. On the back are additional photos with specs and one of the photos is an exploded view of the record players’ speakers.

Inside the box the record player is held in place by two form-fitted cardboard sleeves. The record player is covered and protected by a plastic bag.

Included with the record player are a power cord (also in a bag), an extra needle cartridge (in a bag) and instructions.

Carefully remove the record player and components from the box and follow the instructions as to how to ready the record player for use. Plug in the power source, take the protective slip-on plastic cap of the needle assembly, loosen the needle arm, raise the arm, select the record speed (33, 45 or 78), place your album or 45 on the turntable, put the auto stop switch on, press the power button being sure to select the correct playback mode: BT. Line-In, Phono or BT Out, make sure the power indicator red light is on, lower the arm and get ready to rock!

Small and light enough to carry wherever you want the portable suitcase record player has built-in speakers, Bluetooth streaming and Vinyl Stream technology.

I’ve test all the modes and the sound quality is great. Headphones bring the sound up close and personal, Bluetooth allows me to connect to my remote Bluetooth speakers placed in an area I choose and for a more stationary selection I can hook up standard speakers. I used some small computer speakers.

I love it! It has that vintage look with easy controls. It sits solidly on any flat surface and for such a inexpensive record player it turns out quality sound-much, much better than my player from my younger years.

The case is of heavy (metal?) construction with protective, reinforced metal, wraparound corners, the handle is secure and heavy, the locking mechanism is a simple clip lock that securely keeps the lid shut while transporting and twin speakers in the front turn out some incredible sound.

I ride a bike- a lot. One of things that is essential when riding a bike is to have a bright light (which also flashes) so vehicle drivers can see you.

I don’t like having stationary light on my bike because (unfortunately) if I decide to go to a store or to make a ‘pit stop’ my light might not be there when I get back.

Victrola Eastwood II

It’s time to break out the classic vinyl LPs and give them a spin!

There’s nothing like listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Seals and Croft, Carol King, Cat Stevens and other singer/songwriters from the 1970s to lift up my spirits and bring back some great memories. Yeah, I’m dating myself.

And what better way to do that than by playing them on Victrola’s Eastwood II portable record player that combines a classic look with state-of-the art technology?

What is it about listening to music on LPs? It seems more genuine with all the pops and crackles. Albums (classic and current) are more than just vinyl, most include lyrics, photos and even inserts.

Listening to them on Victrola’s Eastwood II brings out every little string stroke, vocal fluctuation and genuine sound as if the LPs were recorded in the studio yesterday. Vinyl-you can’t beat it. Keep your streaming and CDs. Give me good old fashion vinyl any day!

You held them in your hands, they were real, substantial and ‘felt’ like music unlike CDs, streaming, etc. OK, enough music nostalgia-on to the Victrola Eastwood II record player.

I really got excited when I saw the Victrola box sitting on my front porch after Fed-Ex delivered it. I could hardly wait to get it inside and unpack it!

The record player came in a heavy, cardboard shipping box securely sealed with tape. Once opened the actual Victrola Eastwood II box was inside.

Although made of a slightly lighter paper stock the box was sealed shut with tape with hinged lids decorated with photos of the unit on all sides.

Inside the record player was snug between two formed-fitted, heavy cardboard stock end cap pieces. Inside one of the insert’s cavities was the power cord, also secured with a plastic coated wire, inside a sealed clear plastic bag.

The record player came in a clear plastic bag and the transparent and removable lid was protected by clear plastic sheet. Easy-to-follow instructions came in its own clear plastic bag.

Taking the record player out of the bag I sat it on my man-cave table.

The unit sits upon four rubberized feet that allows the record player to move slightly thus eliminating record skips.

I plugged the unit in, selected the vinyl function on the light up power knob (which turns on and off by holding it down for 2 to 3 seconds.)

The vinyl mode ring light on the power knob is white, vinyl stream is flashing white then solid white and the Bluetooth function is flashing blue when it’s ready to pair and solid blue then white when connected.

Bluetooth devices connect automatically when the Bluetooth function is activated. However some Bluetooth devices require you to put in a code number via an app. Be sure to check the Bluetooth connectivity of your devices.

The turn table can be set for 72, 45 (an adapter is set into the turntable itself) or 33 1/3 speeds. You can also set the auto-stop if you prefer.

Lay your selected LP on the platter with the clear lid open. The lid has two cutouts, one on the back and one on the side, that allow you to set the LP on the platter and close the lid. I found these cut-out slots to my advantage as it helped me set my LP down in the correct spot on the first try.

When the lid is closed it protects your LP from dust and damage.

Take the protective needle cap off the stylus. Be careful not to dislodge the needle cartridge itself. It is easily replaced with a light pull and clip in and out.

Lift the tune arm off its rest using the lift lever and position the Audio-Technica AT-3600LA cartridge needle over the desired selection on the LP.

Position the needle into place and the lower the lift lever to play the LP.

WOW! What awesome audio! The built-in speakers (behind the soft cloth front) really deliver clear and clean sound. Pair it up with a Bluetooth device and you are ready to rock and roll!

I have mine set-up with two external speakers for wraparound stereo sound-awesome!

A really like the wood detail on the record player’s sides and back and the charcoal gray/black cloth on the front really gives the unit a vintage/modern look-just like when I was playing LPs on my first record player all those years (decades) ago.

The Vinyl Stream Technology makes playing through an external Bluetooth speaker(s) easy.

On the back of the Eastwood II record player is a RCA Line Out Jack for any amplifier/stereo device, a Headphone Jack and a DC Power Input Jack.

I love it! What an awesome portable record player. Set up is easy, fast and the unit itself is designed to be rugged enough to take a few bumps and slides and still come out playing clear, music. The clear lid also has small rubber bumpers on its front edge for lid protection. Who could ask for more?

So, excuse me while I break out my bell-bottom jeans, love beads, pull back my hair (what’s left of it) with a head band, put on my Earth shoes, kick back and relive my youth--at least for a little while. Groovy and far out!

There are times in my 72 years when I appreciate that I have strong glasses. Otherwise the world is blur and seeing small type and objects can be troublesome.

In the case of TinyCircuits’ TinyTV2 having good vision comes in handy.

The TinyTV2 is a miniature TV with a screen that measures approximate one inch by 3/4 inch. Images are in full-color and even more surprising they are sharp and well-defined.

The small TV looks like a vintage pre-LED TV console with an on and off switch and volume and sound controls and they actually work!

The body of the TV is wood color plastic along with the tiny four legs and the front of the TV is silver/gray with a small rectangular speaker between the control knobs.

The back of the TV looks like a vintage analog TV with surface vents and a cathode TV tube protrusion.

The sound quality is clear without static or variations.

I love gadgets. ZEEHOO recently sent me a review sample of its CubeTrick-X 3-In-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Station with Ultra-Fast 15W Charging Power.

Let's start with the packaging.

The unit comes in a small, white box with a slip-lid made of heavy paper stock.

Inside the unit is protected by clear plastic slip and is held securely in place with a three-side cardboard accordion made with heavy paper stock.

Furby Galaxy Edition

This is not your parent’s Furby. The new multi-color lime green, violet, purple and blue) Furby Galaxy Edition is an electronic, interactive toy that's out of this world courtesy of Hasbro Toys. Such a chatterbox!

Let’s start with the package. The colorful heavy cardboard box is sealed shut. A large graphic of a close-up of Furby’s face is on the front with highlights what Furby can do on one side and on the back.

On the other side is a long key graphic.

Tug at the top of the key and presto!, the perforated cardboard box easily opens revealing the interior of the box.

Tucked inside is Furby snug as a bug it its cardboard stand firmly held in place by the two screws that open the battery compartment (four batteries are needed-not included).

Unscrew the plate and Furby is free to chat away! The sleeve that surrounds Furby in the box also unfolds to reveal a four-panel background with colorful bedroom scene including a bed, furniture and all sorts of fun stuff.

Sit Furby on the stand in front of the bedroom scene and you have the perfect display piece!

Furby is adorable. Watch it talk, move its cute little green feet, open and close its big eyes (with yellow stars and real purple eyelashes) and wiggle its ears that light up in multiple colors.

Push the purple heart on its forehead and you can command it to do all sorts of things. Furby also responds to your conversations.

I love gadgets and at Dollar Tree I find all sorts of fun goodies.

My latest acquisition is e-circuit’s USB Laptop Light.

This handy little device pops into your laptop’s (or any computer) USB post and BINGO! you have instant light.

The flexible designed light boasts 14 Bright LED equal to 60 Lumens.

It makes for a handy little device when you need some extra light while working on your laptop or computer..

The LEDs are housed behind a slick and slim translucent white teardrop of plastic attached at the end of the flexible rod.
