While I like ZEEHOO’s rectangular/squared off Wireless Charger I prefer the circular round design wireless charger with its matt black metal casing and the rounded off sections that fit together creating a line pattern that makes the whole unit pop.

It’s a well thought out and designed piece of electronic gear that really gives it a classic feel and sense of elegance. As a graphic designer I really appreciate its aesthetics.

I love gadgets. ZEEHOO recently sent me a review sample of its CubeTrick-X 3-In-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Station with Ultra-Fast 15W Charging Power.

Let's start with the packaging.

The unit comes in a small, white box with a slip-lid made of heavy paper stock.

Inside the unit is protected by clear plastic slip and is held securely in place with a three-side cardboard accordion made with heavy paper stock.

Below the unit is a small box made of the same paper stock that holds the 5 ft. (1.5 m) USB-C cable and wall plug adapter.

With its Qi2 fast wireless charging it only takes 10 minutes for an hour of phone use.

Once taken out its box the wireless charger needs to plug into a power outlet to charge. Once plugged into power you’re ready to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch, and Air Pods, all at the same time.

On top of the unit you’ll spot a small button that you touch to auto rotate the upper part of the unit to a 75-degree daily operation angle. Leave it horizontal if you prefer.

A circular magnetic charger disc allows to you lay your i-Phone on the circular pad.

On the left side of the unit is a horizontal inset panel. Press it and a Air Pods recharger pops out. Simple push it in for storage.

On the right side of the unit is a similar panel than when pushed extends out to recharge your Apple Watch. Push it in for storage.

Caution: do not manually turn the phone charger. Use the button as to not damage the unit.

Included with the charger is a manual and a 15-month warranty along with customer service.

LED Tracing Pad

While my wife was shopping a the local T.J. Maxx I popped into the local Five Below.

I stopped by the art supply department and my eyes immediately spotted the Digital Essentials’ USB Powered LED Tracing Pad.

For a mere five bucks I purchased a 5.8 inch by 8.3 inch Tracing Pad that delivers plenty of light.

Light tables/tracing pads tend to cost big bucks but this little LED Tracing Pad is perfect for whenever you need to trace artwork or photos.

It provides plenty of light and its thin and light design makes it easy to store in a laptop bag or in a drawer..

USB Laptop Light

I love gadgets and at Dollar Tree I find all sorts of fun goodies.

My latest acquisition is e-circuit’s USB Laptop Light.

This handy little device pops into your laptop’s (or any computer) USB post and BINGO! you have instant light.

The flexible designed light boasts 14 Bright LED equal to 60 Lumens.

It makes for a handy little device when you need some extra light while working on your laptop or computer..

The LEDs are housed behind a slick and slim translucent white teardrop of plastic attached at the end of the flexible rod. 

 It measures about one foot long, which is plenty long enough to poke over your laptop screen or light the keyboard of your computer. 

 And it only costs $1,25!

I was a professional graphic designer for over 25 years and taught it for 11 years.  I used Photoshop to repair most of my old photos and it tended to be a long drawn out process.

Spearhead VR Over-Ear Headphones

WOW!  I don’t know what else to say.  I’ve seen some pretty impressive headphones in my day but 1MORE’s Spearhead VR Over-Ear Headphones has to take top honors.

And I’m not just talking about the headphones themselves.  I’m talking about the entire package.

Let me start with that first.

As a former professional graphic designer and package designer I have to say I am impressed.

When I received the headphones the first thing I noticed was that the box they came in.  Consisting of heavy-duty card stock the box features a three-fold lid and silk tabs for easy opening.

Inside, behind the headphones and sleeve, is small black box containing instructions, cables, a USB cable, a sticker, a product pamphlet and a sold-black, draw-string, heavy vinyl bag for transporting the headphones.

Now that’s product packaging and protection!

On to the headphones themselves.

EW277HDR Monitor

For 25 years I made my living as a graphic designer.  A portion of that was old school using paste-up and a drawing table.  I transitioned to digital, which I preferred. 

 

For an additional 11 years I taught graphic design at a local high school.

Computers and software come and go.  They’re pretty much the same just more complicated and sophisticated and with more bells and whistles as the years pass.

To me the most important component of a computer set-up is the monitor.

A monitor can make or break any design work.  It is vitally important that color saturation, proper contrast, lighting, detail in images and especially black intensity are spot on.

Within a few minutes I had the monitor hooked up to my Windows 7 computer. One push of the power button and I was in business.

Several ports are available on the monitor for VGA and HDMI.  Built-in, high intensity, integrated 2WX2 speakers allow for crystal clear audio when watching videos, online content and even when listening to online music.

On the majority of monitors color, contrast and lighting controls are rudimentary at best.  With the EW277HDR Monitor each is taken to the highest level of control.

Picture modes include Standard, HDR, Low Blue Light, Game, Photo, SRGB, Rec. 709, ECO, M-book and User.  All are vitally important settings if you do design work like myself, watch videos or game.

By having pre-set lighting conditions it makes it far easier to adjust and compensate for natural light.  I find this especially helpful when designing artwork.  Proper presentation and color sharpness and intensity often determine if a project looks correct once printed or displayed online and through social media channels.

In layman’s terms it simply means the color, details and experience overall is improved significantly. 

Other monitor features include Low Blue Light selection for Web, Office, etc, input selection, full picture manual lighting adjustments, Picture Advance settings for maximum control, display capabilities for screen adjustments, Audio controls and System controls for input keys, screen settings and other adjustments.

POSER DEBUT

Finally! A 3D animation program that I can wrap my mind around!  Don't get me wrong, I love 3D animation, but producing it taxes my brain cells.


I'm a 2D kind of guy and I have trouble thinking and designing in 3D.  I'm not stupid, but 2D and 3D never the twain shall meet.


In the past I've found 3D programs either to be too difficult to use and requiring a long learning curve or too simplified and restricted on what they can do.


There are some great programs out there.  The only problem is I simply do not have the time it takes to learn them.  


POSER DEBUT from SmithMicro Software is a real joy to use.  It's simple to use and turns out killer results is a short time.  Menus are designed so you don't have to have and engineering degree to know what they mean.


You can start immediately by choosing from over 70 ready-to-use characters,  Simply drag and drop figures onto the stage, cloth them, modify them, choose hair and facial expressions, select lighting effects, place them in a scene you have built from pre-constructed elements, render them, animate them and viola! 


Before you know it you've produced high-quality animated sequences that you can post and share with your friends via websites or community networks.


POSER DEBUT is easy-to-learn using its Project Guide and tutorials.  Animation is a snap. Select humans, animals, aliens and even skeletons to animate. Add props, backgrounds, clothing and render them all photo realistically, in cartoon or sketch mode, silhouette and Flash.
