Furniture Times Five

Furniture-not a particularly interesting subject.  Everyone has some.  Granted some furniture pieces are a little more flamboyant than others.  Some get more use, but, by in large furniture just sits there, is handy for whatever purpose it is made for and tends to be rather dull.

Unless….that furniture is scaled at 1:12, made for action or movable figures and happen to be from Hasegawa Hobby Kits.  Suddenly furniture bumps up there with battleships, jet fighters, military vehicles and race cars.

You’re kidding right!?  No, really!  Hasegawa Hobby Kits furniture is cool!  From its Japanese inscribed boxes to the pre-painted, snap together parts to its realistic look and attention to detail it rocks!

Here’s a few Hasegawa Hobby Kits you’ve got to check out!

The Science Room Desk & Chair are my favorite.  The science table boasts a Formica top, clean white lower construction with typical black kick boards.  Included with the table are four open front rectangular stools and even cooler the desk also comes with a twin facet sink and wash basin!  Talk about accurate!

The School Desk and Chair set features a four-leg desk in wood grain and black capped metal legs and a straight back chair designed similarly.

The four-chamber, stacked Capsule Toy Machine includes full coin and slot twin sections, clear toy chambers (with miniature toys!) and a solid four leg white standup display.

The Office Desk & Chair features a gray three drawer desk with hard top and a swivel, four wheels, padded chair that fits perfectly under the extended leg desk.

Need a table!? Hasegawa has it with its Meeting Room Desk & Chair model with folding legs, wood grain top table and twin folding chairs.
Who says furniture is boring!

Second Ship and Chokai

From Hasegawa Hobby Kits come two warships: one imaginary and one real.  Both are impressive, feature precision fitted model pieces, full assembly, paint and decal instructions and look spectacular when completed.

Phantom Death Shadow-just the name is guaranteed to send enemies of the Arcadia Second Ship scurrying.

Measuring in at 1:1500 Scale-you can just imagine how big the spaceship would be if it existed-the Arcadia Space Pirate Battleship model captures the look and feel of the imaginary deadly space cruiser.

A deep blue with light blue and red accents on its tip and nacelles, the Arcadia bristles with weapons-especially deadly is its deck mounted cannon turrets brandishing three Pulsar cannon apiece.

Three skull and crossbows decorate its hull and its aft section recreates the look of an old wooden warship captain’s quarters-complete with flag.

Part of its Creator Works series of models, the Hasegawa Hobby Kits Arcadia Second Ship model comes disassembled on eight part trees-pre-colored red, blue, yellow, black and white. Parts detach easily with little or no flashing and assemble easily and snuggly when using the  extensive instructions included as a guide.
Check out the skull and crossbones pieces-talk about detail!

A special stygian black base is included and when the ship is mounted on it and viewed it appears the ship is floating in space-especially when viewed in dim light. Also included are two Cosmo Wing fighters.

As impressive as the Arcadia model is the Water Line Series 1:700 Scale J.M.S.D.F. DDG Chokai Kongo Class Destroyer is every bit as lethal and impressive.

Modeled after the  infamous Japanese Chokai Naval Destroyer the model boasts deck armament, a helicopter pad, full tower, deck and hull accessories and details and a full antennae display.

The model also includes full assembly instructions, paint and deal diagrams and parts that detach easily from numerous part trees.

In no time at all you’ll have your very own destroyer with all the intricate details you expect from Hasegawa Hobby Kits.

I, Frankenstein

He’s not your grandparent’s monster!  Aaron Eckhart stars as Mary Shelley’s monster with a heart, Frankenstein, in the new Lionsgate film: I, Frankenstein.

Released on 3D/2D/DVD and Digital HD Ultraviolet Combo the movie takes place 200 years after Victor Frankenstein first breathed life into his cobbled together human body parts creation.

Now named Adam by Celestial forces, the Frankenstein monster has been given weapons and abilities to stop the demons and dark forces that seek to destroy him.

Determined to survive, Adam discovers during his unending war against dark forces that he holds the key to the salvation or destruction of mankind.

Ironically the monster hated by mankind is now its only hope.

Spectacular visual effects, all-out fight scenes and a villain that steals almost every scene he’s in combine to make the adaptation of The Darkstorm Studios graphic novel, created by Kevin Grevioux, a film that shines a whole new light on the famous patchwork monster.

The Combo also includes commentaries and featurettes about making the film, creating the monster and more.

Vermonia

“The fate of three worlds depends on the courage of four friends…The Battle for Vermonia has begun.”  So begins the story of Vermonia, the Manga series from Rosen/Candlewick.

Beginning with the ‘Quest for the Silver Tiger’ the Vermonia studio, headed by Saki, tells the story of Mel who is kidnapped by the evil General Uro and taken prison on another world.

Her three friends: Doug, Naomi and Jim (with the assist from Satorin: a magical Squelp) go to her rescue, unaware that Mel is not the only one who needs help.

As the General’s forces spread throughout the galaxy only the promise of a prophecy concerning four brave warriors fro Blue Star give the conquered any hope.

It now falls on the heads of Mel, Jim, Naomi and Doug to make that prophecy come true.

The adventure continues as Doug releases the Silver Tiger, the remaining friends continue their search for Mel, Naomi release the power of the Red Phoenix, The Turtle Realm is threatened, the Aqami join the fight and the Blue Warriors attempt to protect the Pillar of Thunder from General Uro.

Jim and Doug experience the Lake of Wishes and must fight against what they’ve always wished for, the Blue Warriors split into groups on separate quests and Jim must defend the last pillar: the Pillar of Wind.

Vermonia is a beautifully illustrated Manga series.  Every conceivable magical creature, power and mystical realm is well throughout and expertly portrayed.

Fantasy and sci-fi fans will enjoy Vermonia as much as Manga fans.

It’s obvious from the detail and thought that went into the series that Saki and her studio artists are very proud of their first Manga.
