Crazy Rich Asians

A bit of a commentary...

Here in the United States Asian movies consisted mostly of martial art extravaganzas and the occasional guest star status of Asian actors and actresses.

Much the same was true of TV shows.  For too long the Asian performing artists have been relegated to second-tier status in movies and TV shows-there have been a few exceptions, but very few and very far between.

Warner Bros. took a bolt and daring move and adapted the Crazy Rich Asians best-selling novel to the Silver Screen and the result is one of the most  clever, heart-warming and fun movies starring an Asian cast.  Bravo!

It’s about time that actors and actresses of the Asian persuasion had their time in the sun and the well-deserved spotlight.  Let’s hope this starts a trend.

The Crazy Rich Asians story line is clever, ripe with comedy and filled with more than its fair share of surprises.
When New York native Rachel Chu is invited by her boyfriend to his friend’s wedding in Singapore she excitedly agrees.  An opportunity like that only comes around once in a lifetime.

Rachel’s boyfriend forgot to mention that he comes from a very rich and influential family and that he is considered a prime target for Asian high-society women to snag as their husband.

Sparks fly as Rachel must not only fend off his unwelcome suitors but also contend with his very traditional mother and relatives.

It’s truly hilarious film that the entire family can enjoy.

Besides the film the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Combo Pack also includes a commentary, a featurette, a gag reel and deleted scenes.
