One of my all-time TV variety shows was The Carol Burnett Show that ran on CBS for 11 years starting in the late 1960s to the late 1970s. It has been named one of the top 100 TV shows of all time and if you ever watched it, it is easy to see why.
Carol Burnett with her all-star cast were perfect. Carol, Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner
meshed perfectly together to produce some classic comedy sketches. Who can forget the famous 'Dentist' sketch
with Harvey and Tim or the equally funny Momma episode with Vicki where Tim
goes into his Siamese elephant monologue.
Dozens of sketches made audiences roar with laughter and they still hold up
today.
The Carol Burnett Show was also known for its spectacular music and dance
routines and the many movie and TV stars who practically begged to appear with Carol
and her cast.
Unlike many of the 'comedy' shows of today, The Carol Burnett Show was funny
without being vulgar. Innuendo was the
catch phrase and Carol, Tim, Lyle, Vicki and Harvey were masters at it.
The new 'The Carol Burnett Show Ultimate Collection from Time/Life
contains specially selected episodes of the classic series. Hours and hours of extras are part of the
set including a cast reunion with Carol, Tim, Vicki and Lyle, several upsides
of The Gary Moore Show where Carol got her part, The History Of The Carol
Burnett Show, a spotlight on the career of Carol Burnett, Carol's famous
Q&A sessions, a special focus on Mama's Family, Tim and Carol as Tudball
and Wiggins, movie parodies, the famous 'break-ups' and so much more.
For a good dose of belly laughs be sure to pick up
this spectacular new collection that is digitally re-mastered for the best in
sound and picture.
