Love Letter Princess Of Tempest

In this age of action adventures films, books and the like, special effect laden movies and TV shows, splash and dash and in-your-face drama, sex and violence who would ever of thought that a collectible card game called Love Letter would be successful?

And yet it is-very successful!  So successful in fact that new supplements are coming out on a regular basis and game store owners are attempting to keep their store shelves well supplied.
A good friend of mine, a game shop owner, told me that Love Letter is one his most popular games.

What is it about Love Letter from Alderac Entertainment Group (AEG) that makes it so interesting, intriguing and popular? Is it because more women are playing games?  Is it because gamers are tired of magic, warfare and monsters?  Has it struck a romantic cord within the hearts of gamers?

The answer-yes-it has.  Imagine-gamers  having a soft spot for romance?  Evidently they do.  But, Love Letter is no mere romantic, emotion-gushing, sugar-sweet, get-in-touch-with-one's-feelings kind of game.  Oh no, it is much more than that.

Let's take a closer look.  The components of the game are pretty standard: 16 game cards, 4 reference cards and tokens of affection along with an instruction booklet.

Backed by a short, description card the plastic bubble-packed card game comes with its components tied up in a red velvet bag with gold pull string and gold "Love Letter' script sewn into the red bag (nice touch).

The premise of the game is this: after the arrest of her mother for treason Princess Annette is despondent and locks herself into her room.

Determined to bring the Princess out of her funk several men (young and old) seek to woo the Princess and win her hand in marriage.  There's only one problem-how do they get their letters of love to her?

Only cunning, determination and with the help of others to deliver their messages to the Princess determines who wins the Princess's heart.

Gamers must vie against one another while they attempt to get their letter to the Princess.  As the song goes, "Love is a battlefield" and only the strong and resilient survive.

Depend on weak messengers and your letter may wind up in the fire.  Choose a powerful messenger and you'll become the target of the other suitors.

Whoever manages to get their message to the Princess wins.  Love is hard!

After a few minutes of game play I discovered that this is more than a game about love-it's a game of conquest and only the strong survive.

It's no wonder the game is so popular-there are so many variables, game length can be short or long and it packs just as much excitement and intrigue as any roll playing game!

Love Letter-it's the 'write' game for you!
