Gale Storm

American Idol, The Voice and America’s Got Talent—anyone who watches TV is familiar with those shows.

Each features future wannabe superstars in heated voice and talent competitions with the winner practically guaranteed a promising future in entertainment.

Did you know, long before TV was in every American’s home that talent shows were popular on radio?

Way back in 1939 a nationwide talent show featured a small teenage girl, only 17 years old, who went on to win the Gateway In Hollywood competition.

The young singer (Josephine Owaissa Cottle) from Texas, suddenly found herself with a new name: Gale Storm and a movie contract at RKO Studios.

She went on to have a huge successful career in movies, TV, records and radio.

Author David C. Tucker and McFarland & Company, Inc. Publishers, present Gale Storm A Biography And Career Record that chronicles her life and career.

Sprinkled with black and white archival photos the book delves into her life story including her movie career (35 films), TV shows (My Little Margie and several others-complete with episode guides and production information), several Radio programs and a number of recordings such I Hear You Knockin’ which went gold.

There are sections about her role in comic books and even a short section on her husband’s career.

Anything and everything you need to know about her life and career are included in the book.

After reading and looking through the book I felt as if I knew her.  Through it all she retained her small-time charm, sensibilities and humble attitude.  Today’s actresses could take a note from Gale Storm.
