First things first. I absolutely love the cartoon illustrations
by Guy Francis in the new Scholastic Press, children’s’ book: Knock Knock,
written by Tammi Sauer.
For some real ‘sidesplitting story fun! kids are sure to
love this unique take on the classic Knock Knock joke.
Poor old Bear is getting ready to hibernate. He’s all cozy in his nice warm bed, teddy
bear in hand and just about to turn out the light when suddenly-there’s a knock
at his door!
Groggy and tired he asks, “Who’s there?’
“Justin “
“Justin who?”
Sly old fox walks in with a load of firewood, “Justin the
neighborhood and thought I’d stop by!"
From there the Knock Knock jokes fly in rapid succession
as the Blujays, Raccoon, a huge crowd of woodland friends, Wolf and finally Squirrel shows
up.
Bear is furious until he realizes what his friends are up
to.
What a fun, funny and delightful tale that kids are sure
to enjoy and cherish.
Speaking as a cartoonist and writer myself I am extremely
impressed of the art and story.
‘Knock knock!’
“Who’s there?”
“Ida.”
“Ida who?”
“ Ida really would like you to read this book!”
