While no encyclopedia can cover every character, most can provide reasonable information on major players.
I have a number of comic book encyclopedias but this particular book is one of the best.
The oversize hardbound book comes with a full color dust jacket with images of popular comic book characters.
Inside, in alphabetical order, comic book titles are examined and complemented by full color illustrations and covers.
Key characters are given larger sections, such as Superman and spider-Man). Characters origins, creators and history are all included.
I especially like the fact that I can pick up the book, quickly flip to a particular character or titles and read the most pertinent information about said character or title.
It’s makes for a quick and easy way to pull up research.
Author Ron Goulart has done and excellent job and Harper Collins published a lush and colorful (and fun) reference book about comic books with Comic Book Encyclopedia.
