Doctor Octopus, Lex Luthor, Mary Jane Watson and Lois Lane make their appearances.
What is it with super villains and their giant rampaging machines?
Superman gets called to action when a giant robot rampages through the streets of metropolis. Superman manages to stop the machine but not before its pilot Lex Luthor escapes, travels to some frozen wastelands and activates another monster machine.
This time Superman destroys the machine and saves Lex from drowning. Off to prison he goes!
Meanwhile Spider-Man goes one-on-one with Doc Ock’s giant mechanical octopus and then a giant blimp.
Like Lex Luthor Doc Ock finds himself about to drown and Spider-Man saves him. He too goes to prison.
It just so happens both baddies are in the same jail. Lex Luthor activates some hidden electronics on his person and breaks out Doc Ock too.
They conspire to stop both Superman and Spider-Man.
As expected they manage to get Supes and Spidey fighting each other to distract them away from their own nefarious plans. You can guess the outcome.
The new larger format of the publication allowed artist Ross Andru to kick things up a notch with huge vistas and lots of details in Superman Vs. The Amazing Spider-Man. It’s a classic!
