The Avengers #10 is generating a lot of interest and collectors are clamoring to find copies.
In this issue readers are introduced to Immortus who also happens to be Kang and Rama Tut and in later years is revealed to be Iron Lad of The Young Avengers. Talk about multiple personalities!
Jack Kirby provided the cover with Don Heck penciled the interior. Stan Lee wrote the story.
Things start off with a bang as Captain America is giving the other Avengers a run for their money during a training exercise.
Meanwhile Zemo, The Enchantress and Executioner hatch a plan to take on The Avengers once more after their last attempt to defeat them ended in a fiasco.
Suddenly Immortus from the future pops up in a puff of smoke and energy.
Together they hatch a plan to defeat The Avengers using characters from the past: Goliath, Attila The Hun, Paul Bunyan, Merlin and Hercules (his first appearance).
Of course Marvel Comics' The Avengers rally and defeat each and every one and send Immortus and his cohorts running.
It’s some of the best work Don Heck ever turned in.
There’s lots of action, complicated fight sequences, a surprising amount of detail and a satisfying conclusion.
It’s important to note that it is the first appearances of Immortus and Hercules-two key characters in the Marvel Universe.
Be sure to check out the goof on page 19 where Thor has bare legs.
