My grandson absolutely loves seeing fire engines. Imagine seeing two distinctly different engines while in Europe.
Schuco has created one in 1:48 Scale. The first thing you notice about it is that the front looks like a VW bus/van. That’s exactly what it is albeit chopped off in the middle to make way for the extension ladder.
Here’s another surprise-it’s painted red. Imagine that, a red fire engine!
The bumpers are white as is a large vertical strip running down the back of the cab on both sides.
The flatbed that the extension ladder is attached to is gray as is the ladder itself held together by black railing and the extension motor and supports.
The second fire engine scaled at 1:87, looks much more like a traditional fire engine with a ladder. Surprise! It’s also red!
In appearance the two vehicles look very similar.
Although this unit has a storage compartment slide up door in its middle and two smaller ones on each side closer to the rear of the engine.
The front bumper and grill are white while a long horizontal yellow line runs down the entire length of the trailer.
The trailer upper bed is silver while the crane mechanism is red. The extension ladder is silver and looks to be made of plastic.
The cabin has a wraparound front windshield ending on each side thus creating side windows. Single windows are on each side of the crane compartment.
Both vehicles have rubber tires and white wheels.
