Accompanying the images are short pieces of historical text explaining the scenes, their significance and the event or incidents that occurred around on the same dates of the calendar.

The Golden Age Of DC Comics - 365 Days, published by Harry N. Abrams, is more than pretty pictures; the book is a historical account of the days during the Golden Age.

Star Trek Discovery Season Four

The Universe In Peril!

 The crew of Discovery has traveled 900+ years into the future where The Federation is all but non-existent.

The Discovery scouts out and finds a new supply of Dilithium and using that knowledge convinces once former Federation planets to reestablish the Federation.

101 Things You Should Know About James Bond 007

I own and have read a lot of books about James Bond. I consider myself a semi-expert on the spy with the license to kill.

I also have all of the Bond movies and an impressive James Bond trading card and toy collection.

But, nothing prepared me for author Michael Dorflinger’s new 101 Things You Should Know About James Bond 007 book from Schiffer Publishing.

I was put in my place! That will teach me to be a know-it-all!

The book, although relatively small is so jam-packed with James Bond facts, fables, myths and information, accompanied by hundreds of black and white photos (some I’ve never seen before) that it boggles the mind!

Everything you could possibly want to know about James Bond is in this book.

Just look at the categories:

Long-held Bond secrets are revealed all in chronological order starting with Bond’s author Ian Fleming through 101 chapters.

I was amazed at the amount of information the book held about Bond that I did not know. If you are a James Bond fan then this book is a definite ‘have-to-have’ item.

Just like James Bond himself the book is far more than it appears to be. It is an enjoyable read and a real treat for the eyes with its many photos.

Jaws Plush

Just when you thought it was safe to go to the toy/specialty store along comes Factory Entertainment’s Jaws Plush.

At almost 12 inches long the Bruce the Great White Shark from Jaws is recreated in all of his gray and white glory.

The soft plush toy comes packaged in a sealed bag with a Jaws tag attached to the stuffed toy shark. Scaled down, the Jaws Plush looks exactly like its oversize cousin.

The color variations of the shark changes around the gills, tail, fin and overall skin texture.  Not just a monotone color the variations in hue make the skin of the shark look real.

Its dead black eyes, gaping jaw with its rows of deadly white teeth and its flesh colored pallet make this soft plush look almost as deadly as its namesake.

Beware, don’t put the Jaws Plush in with your other stuffed toys! They might mysteriously disappear one by one with only traces of stuffing to show they ever existed.

The Jaws Plush is soft, squishable and makes a great conversation piece.

Tom and Jerry Snowman’s Land

Back when I was just a kid one of my favorite animated cartoon series starring animals was Warner Bros.' Tom and Jerry cartoon shorts.

Originally produced to accompany movie releases the cartoons were shown exclusively at movies along with film shorts.

As television became more popular cartoon shorts began showing up on Saturday mornings. At one time Saturday mornings on TV consisted entirely of kid’s cartoons and programming-Tom and Jerry included.

Tom the cat and Jerry the Mouse were constancy trying to outwit each other. The cartoons were packed with physical slapstick and prat falls. It was in fun. Such antics would never make the cut nowadays.

Eventually Tom and Jerry received their own original TV cartoon shorts, starred in a few movies and as a result a whole new generation of kids got to enjoy their antics.

In Warner Bros./Discovery’s Tom and Jerry Snowman’s Land Original Movie DVD, Tom and Jerry are back and this time they bring the magic of the holiday season with them.

Jerry and his nephew Tuffy make a snow mouse, named Larry, who miraculously comes to life.

They become fast friends and in order to stop Larry from melting Jerry and Tuffy set out with Larry to the fabled Snowman’s village to save him. The journey is filled with danger, detours and daring dos.

In hot pursuit are Tom and Dr. Doubleday who have their own nefarious plans for Larry’s magic.

It’s an all-new, full-length original animated move filled with songs and tunes, outrageous pratfalls and hi jinks.

It’s fun and frantic and with Tom And Jerry there’s no telling what will happen.

Great music, stellar animation and an impressive voice cast make this the perfect holiday film.

Lieutenant Commander Data

From Star Trek: The Next Generation TV series comes the Lieutenant Commander Data figure standing approximately five inches tall from Playmates Toys.

Packaging is similar to the classic Star Trek figures released by Playmates Toys in the 1990s.

The hanger, stand-up bubble pack securely holds the figure and accessories in place in a form-fitted cocoon with plastic coated wires.

The Data figure looks remarkably like the character from his pale skin, slicked back black hair and deep set eyes and angular face.

The figure’s hands are also pale and are pre-positioned so they can firmly hold the accessories that come with the figure.

A Type II Hand Phaser with red energy beam, Diagnostic Testing Unit With Monitor, Tricorder With Holder and Android Access Panel accompany the figure along with a Starfleet Action Base.

Accessories and weapon are finely detailed, are series accurate and fit the figure’s hands.

Articulation is tight with variations including pivot, swivel, hinge and ball and joints.

These allows the figure to pose with or without its base realistically.

The Data Figure comes in the standard Starfleet jump suit with gold jacket and sleeves, black trousers and shoulder section and black boots hidden underneath flair over trouser cuffs.

Sculpted slimmer than the original Playmates figures the coloration and articulation makes the figure almost look alive.

The back of the packaging includes a Data bio section, gear specs and photos of the other figures in the set.

DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow The Complete Series

Has there ever been a more misfit, quirky, odd-ball group of superheroes than DC Comics Legends Of Tomorrow?

When the first episode of the CW Network's new DC's Legends Of Tomorrow TV series aired I got really excited.

A Time Lord recruits a ragtag group of heroes and villains to stave off a catastrophe by traveling through time.

As the series progressed the Time Lord left and one of the team took over as the leader. 

Through seven seasons both villains and heroes traveled through time fixing the time-stream damage they themselves were partially responsible for.

From ancient times to the far-flung future the team members encountered all sorts of threats both human, superhuman and alien,

They squabbled, complained, argued and somehow, someway managed to put aside their differences to make a formidable team.

The series was fast-paced, intense, funny, well-written and a load of fun.

The characters were diverse, well-rounded individuals and the chemistry between them was both tense and tender-just like a family.

The DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow The Complete Series Blu-ray Boxed Set, from Warner Bros./Discovery, contains all of the episodes from the seven seasons the series was on the air.

Extras include featurettes, unaired scenes, gag reels and much more.

When heroes alone are not enough...the world needs Legends.

Back in the 1990s and early 2000s Playmates Toys held the Star Trek license for creating toys, playsets, accessories, etc.

The series was incredibly successful.

Things Star Trek cooled off a bit and the toy line disappeared.

But, now it’s back!

Playmates Toys has recently relaunched its Star Trek line of toys and extras.

The new action figures comes in similarly designed hanger card/standup packaging although slightly down scaled to better fit the redesigned, smaller (five inch figures).

While smaller the figures are less bulky than the original Playmates Toys.

From Playmates Classic Star Trek Movie series The Wrath Of Khan figure set comes Admiral James T. Kirk.

The figure features clever articulation points nicely hidden in the figure’s cloths folds.

Articulation includes pivot, swivel, ball and joint and hinge points all of which make posing the figure (with or without its Action Base) a breeze.

The figure with accessories are secured in a clear plastic cocoon and held in place with plastic coated wires.

Kirk’s features are captured perfectly from his slightly pulled up grin to his hairstyle.

Sculpt for the face is first-rate with fine facial details and clear and clean color application. The same goes for the figure’s hands.

The hands are positioned to securely hold the accompanying accessories which include a Type II Phaser, Starfleet Wrist Communicator and Captain’s Log.

All are movie accurate with clean sharp details.

The figure comes attired in a Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan uniform including the burgundy waist jacket, black belt with gold Starfleet symbol buckle, black trousers with fluted cuffs and black boots.

Details on the uniform include gold piping, insignia, white fluted collar and shoulder decoration.

Cloths’ wrinkles and folds make the attire look real and the articulation of the figure allows the figure to pose realistically.

The package features a painting of the U.S.S. Enterprise and on the back are full accessory stats, a bio of Admiral Kirk and photos of the other figures in the set.

All-in-all its a great way to introduce the next phase of Playmates Toys Star Trek figures.

I love horses. Majestic, pictures of strength and noble-horses have been a constant companion to man almost from the beginning of civilization.

They can also be stubborn, independent and downright ornery. I know, I once took an equestrian class in college. My horse had a mind of its own.

Not so fast-it’s much harder than you think.

Get ready to stimulate your cognitive skills: concentration, problem solving and logic.

Safe and snug in their clear plastic lid flip open box the 10 sticks look innocent enough. Or so you surmise.

Using the enclosed instructions and game guide a single player must put their brain cells to work figuring how to make the vertical and horizontal sticks match up.

The booklet sets the challenge and players must figure out how the other sticks fit together to solve the problem.

Each stick has specific notches on the underside and letters on the surface.

Not only do players have to strategist how to match up the notches but the letters and numbers as well.

Each stick is a different color and by matching up the horizontal slots with the vertical sticks below players can solve the problem.

Trust me when I say it’s not as easy as it looks. It takes some serious thinking to get the sticks in the right order.
