Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Ghostbusters!
If there's something strange
In your neighborhood
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
If there's something weird
And it don't look good
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
I ain't 'fraid of no ghost
I ain't 'fraid of no ghost...

If you’re a big fan of movies these lyrics look familiar.

Back in 1984 when the first Ghostbusters movie came out it was a huge success. Combining comedy with the supernatural proved to be a big hit with moviegoers, so much so that a sequel was released in 1989.

Ghostbusters became an America icon and classic and even today Ghostbusters merchandise sells big.  So it seems only logical that a new Ghostbusters movie would be produced completing the trilogy.

Unfortunately in 2017 a Ghostbusters movie was released with an all female cast.  While it wasn't a bad movie it failed to capture the look and feel of the original Ghostbusters films.

Not so with Ghostbusters: Afterlife.  The new movie combines a new storyline and characters while paying homage to the original films-even so far as to bring back the surviving original cast.

It’s funny, scary, nostalgic and carries on the true ‘spirit’ of the original films.

Titan Books and author Ozzy Inguanzo have recently released a new Ghostbusters: Afterlife book about the art and making of the movie.

Inside readers will learn what inspired the director (and writer) (the son of the original Ghostbusters director) to take on such a massive and beloved property.

Tag along as the book examines the early concept of the film including drawings, full color conceptual paintings, set designs, equipment, costumes, locations, sets and the technical magic required to make the film.

Accompanying the art and photos is detailed text about the whole process, production staff and actor commentaries and in-depth analysis about how the effects, sets and look of the movie were achieved.

The oversize hardback book with its iconic image of Exto-1 on its dust jacket is filled with art, photos, schematics, storyboards, images of creatures and ghosts and more ectoplasm goodies.

It’s an absolutely fascinating and engrossing book about of the making a film that is sure to be a classic and to spawn more sequels.

I spend hours pouring over its images and reading its text.  It brings back so many wonderful memories of the old films while still providing enjoyment with the new modern tribute and sequel.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
