John Henry “Doc” Holliday

“I’m your Huckleberry.”  Who can forget that memorable phrase uttered by Doc Holliday in the blockbuster movie Tombstone?

Val Kilmer played the heavy drinking, hard living Doc Holliday: Wyatt Earp’s best friend.

The Doc Holliday, 12-inch fully articulated collectible figure was part of Sideshow Collectibles Six Gun Legends series.

The figure (like all Sideshow figures) came in a flip lid box with text details about the figure and historical information on the back of both the box and the inside of the flip lid.

A color photo of an outlaw drawing a gun along with a black and white photo of Doc is on the cover with color photos of the Doc Holliday Sideshow figure on its sides and back.

The figure and accessories are cradled in a form fitting plastic cocoon with an additional plastic strap holding the Doc figure in palace.  A full sheet of clear plastic and a sheet of tissue paper protect all of it.

A circular Doc Holliday base and wire support is included for holding the figure up and for posing.

Sideshow Collectibles is big on historical accuracy when it comes to their figures and accessories.  It’s especially true with the Doc Holliday figure.  His clothing is period perfect and his weapons are scaled and designed to look exactly like their larger counterparts.  

Clothing moves easily over the figure when posed with no unsightly wrinkles or unrealistic folds or creases.  Buttons and fasteners work and like real clothes the figure’s outfit can be modified to appear open, folded over or tucked in or out.

The handguns slip easily in an out of their holsters and fit snuggly into the figure’s pre-positioned hands with no chance of slippage or wankiness.

Pay particular attention to the firing mechanisms on the weapons, the pommel on the cane, Doc’s watch and chain and the flask.

His hat perches perfectly on his head while his long gray coat with its row of black buttons and twin flap pockets hangs loosely down to his ankles.

Like trousers of that time period the figures pants fit over the figure’s black boots. Even his bloodied spattered handkerchief looks real with its red blood specks.

His shirt collar is short and his black tie is tied to hang loosely just like a period tie.  His red vest is shiny and looks like something a dandy would wear.

The figure’s face has Doc’s characteristic mustache, intense eyes and short-cropped hair.  Its skin is slightly pale echoing Doc’s illness.

It’s an amazing ensemble of figure, weapons and accessories that are historically accurate, highly detailed and professionally packaged and displayed.
