Superstar penciller Brian Bolland got his start on the Judge Dredd comic book strip. In issue #3 in the Judge Dredd comic book series, from Eagle Comics, met his ultimate emesis in the ghostly, ghastly and horrific Judge Death.
In my opinion Judge Death is one of the most horrific villains ever conceived. Brian Bolland drew the Judge as a desiccated green skinned skeletal figure wearing a ghastly imitation of Judge Dredd’s uniform.
Bolland poured all his heart and soul into the creation of Judge Death and his companion Judges and it shows with their incredible figures and uniforms.
Once human, Judge Death is an animated corpse from Deadworld that escaped his world/dimension and traveled to Mega-City One.
Once there he was joined by his fellow Dark Judges. They proceed to mete out the ultimate judgment-the irradiation of all life.
Only the reviving of Judge Anderson and her psychic abilities stop the Judges when they are judged of their own crimes.
Issue #3 is a grim and gritty tale and really showcased Brian Bolland’s art.
John Wagner provided the chilling script and Eagle Comics brought the tale to America back in 1984,
Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
