Join DC Comics as it celebrates the 50th issue of The New Adventures Of Superboy that combines a new tale with a classic tale.
I never was a big fan of Superboy. I did like his adventures when he teamed up with The Legion Of Superheroes though. Fortunately this issue has the Legion which makes the story enjoyable in a nostalgic sort of way.
A quite recap: The future: a man steals the Dial H For Hero dial. He uses it to change to a super human to commit crimes. Chameleon Boy attempts to stop him. The thief teleports into the past to Smallville where Superboy resides.
The thief frees Lex Luthor from jail. They hatch a plan to take down Superboy and in return Lex Luthor promises to invent a time machine to take the thief back to his own time.
The Legion Of Superheroes follows the thief back in time. They and Superboy (along with Krypto) battle the thief and defeat both he and Lex Luthor.
Pretty cool huh?
What makes this issue especially special is that the then Legion artist Keith Giffen draws part of the issue while Silver Age Superboy artist Kurt Schafffenbruger draws the majority of the book.
What better way to celebrate the 50th issue of The New Adventures Of Superboy? Granted it’s not a milestone issue or a ’hot’ comic. It’s just good old comic book fun and an enjoyable read. What more can you ask for?
