It seems hard to believe that Wolverine as a boy was sickly-that is until his mother was accosted. Then his bone claws extended and his life was changed forever.
For years very little was known about Wolverine’s past. Even his name was unknown until well into his tenure in The Uncanny X-Men.
Wolverine’s real name is James Hudson and he inherited his mutant abilities from his father. His cousin/brother: Sabretooth is also a mutant with catlike claws.
The Dynamic Forces Wolverine Origin bust is a good representation of Wolverine when his claws first emerged as seen in the Origin mini-series.
The box the statue comes in is a direct copy of the artwork used on one of the issues of the mini-series in addition to a photo of the statue.
The figure comes packaged in a Styrofoam box in which the figure fits in the inner cutout sections. It is also wrapped in a foam sheet. My statue is #14 out of 2,000 from Dynamic Forces.
The figure, with base, stands about eight inches tall.
The circular base looks like a wood carved Victorian stand with laminates, cut reliefs and decorative wolf life human faces on three sides.
The base has four felt pads underneath for stabilization.
Wolverine is seen from the waist up wearing an old-style sleeping garment that is blood stained around the waist.
The garment is gray with two buttons at the chest. The collar is open and draped back over Wolverine’s shoulders.
The figure holds his arms at each side bent at the elbows. Both fists are clenched and bloody bone claws extends from each hand.
The figure’s muscles are tensed and the tendons are pronounced.
His head is held back exposing the neck muscles and tendons and larynx areas.
James’ head is chin up with his mouth side open revealing his teeth and inner mouth.
His eyes are closed and his black eyebrows raised. His short black hair is slicked back.
The figure looks as if it is in agony.
Blood is spattered on his cloths and arms.
The sculpt work is amazing, especially on the base and Wolverine’s torso and back.
Clothing folds are nicely done and coloration is tight with good coverage and slight tonal variations
Overall the figure and base are well crafted, nicely executed, superbly sculpted and realistically painted.
A Certificate of Authenticity is included bearing the signature of the sculptor: Martin Canale.
