Having survived the turbulent 1970s Marvel Comics was in the throngs of a renaissance. Its comic books were highly popular mainly in part because of their roster of artists and writers.
This was just before the artists who formed Image organized and left. Fans were hungry for Marvel products including information about the company and its products.
The Internet and social media had yet to hit it big and print media was still king. Marvel editors and staff realized this and began producing a plethora of printed material other than comic books. The fans ate it up.
In 1989 Marvel Comics produced Marvel 1989 The Year In Review.
In the magazine (sporting a Todd McFarlane Spider-Man illustration) readers could read about current and upcoming marvel comics and products.
Some of the highlights were articles about Marvel before Congress, Atlantis Attacks, Armor Wars, She-Hulk, the Grapevine, the new all-white Vision (recognize him from WandaVision?) an interview with The Wizard and much more.
The magazine was well done, featured a lot of fun articles and served to promote Marvel.
