The Silver Surfer resides on a peaceful planet ruled by the benevolent and powerful Marshach.
Marshach’s power mysterious came upon him years ago. He used it to transform his planet and provide for his people. There is no more hunger, war or want. But like all things it must come to an end.
Meanwhile The Guardians Of The Galaxy have been tracking the source of Korvac’s power. It leads them to Marshach’s planet.
The power seems to be emanating from Marshach-it is a fragment of Galactus’s power. The Guardians plan to retrieve it because of its danger. The Silver surfer intervenes and a battle ensues.
After much destruction and death Marshach stops the may lay and uses the power to return everything back to normal.
Marshach realizes the dangerous potential of his power and gives it back to the Guardians but at a terrible cost.
Two additional short tales are included.

Midnight, the former foe of Shang-Chi died and was resurrected as a powerful cosmic force to battle the Silver Surfer.
